Overview
Travel feels better when you know what to expect. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about our journeys, travel style, and what it means to explore with Three Tenths Travel.
What makes Three Tenths Travel different?
Three Tenths Travel creates small group journeys designed around culture, atmosphere, ritual, and human connection rather than rushed sightseeing.
Each itinerary is intentionally paced to allow space for meaningful experiences, local interaction, rest, and reflection. Group sizes are small, accommodations are character driven, and every tour is personally curated around a specific season, festival, or moment in the world.
Is This Trip Right For Me?
This journey is designed for travellers who value authenticity, culture, atmosphere, and meaningful experiences over rushed sightseeing.
You may feel at home here if you enjoy small group travel, local connection, slower moments, beautiful landscapes, thoughtful conversation, and experiencing a destination beyond its highlights. We do not design journeys around social media moments or curated photo opportunities. Our journeys unfold with flexibility, allowing space to slow down, stay longer, or detour toward unexpected moments along the way.
Many of our travellers come solo, while others arrive seeking a more intentional style of travel. Curiosity, openness, and flexibility matter far more than age.

Why is the company called Three Tenths Travel?
Roughly three tenths of our planet is land. The rest is water.
Three Tenths Travel was created around the idea that the part of the world we can explore has the power to change us. Through people, culture, atmosphere, food, conversation, ritual, and shared experience, travel reminds us how much life exists beyond our own routines and perspectives.
Our name reflects a style of travel rooted in curiosity, authenticity, and meaningful human connection rather than simply moving from place to place.
How many people are on each tour?
Groups are intentionally small, with a maximum of 12 travellers.
This allows for a more personal experience, greater flexibility, and a stronger sense of connection within the group.
What ages are your tours designed for?
Most travellers tend to fall between their 30s and 60s, though there are no strict age requirements beyond legal adulthood.
The tours are best suited to open minded travellers who value culture, connection, and immersive experiences.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Many guests travel solo.
Small group travel creates a welcoming environment, and shared experiences often lead to meaningful friendships along the way.
What kind of accommodation can I expect?
Three Tenths Travel prioritises atmosphere, comfort, and character over luxury alone.
Depending on the destination, accommodations may include boutique guesthouses, locally owned hotels, heritage stays, homestays, or unique properties chosen for their sense of place and experience.
Will I have my own room?
Private rooms are available on most tours for an additional supplement.
Some travellers choose to share twin accommodation with another guest of the same gender to reduce costs.
What is included in the tour price?
Each tour includes accommodation, all transport during the itinerary, selected meals, guided experiences, entrance fees listed in the itinerary, and support throughout the journey.
International flights, travel insurance, visas, personal spending, and some meals are not included unless otherwise stated.
What is not included?
International flights to and from the destination, travel insurance, visas, optional activities, alcoholic drinks, and some meals are excluded.
Specific inclusions and exclusions are listed on each individual tour page.
Are flights included?
No. International flights are booked separately.
This gives travellers flexibility to arrive from different countries and use preferred airlines or loyalty programs.
We’re happy to advise on recommended routes and arrival timings to ensure a smooth start to the journey.
How do payments work?
You can either pay in full at the time of booking or secure your place with a deposit and pay the remaining balance over time.
Payment plan options and timelines are shown during the booking process. Paying in full may qualify for reduced pricing on selected departures.
Will there be free time?
Yes.
Every itinerary balances guided experiences with personal time to wander, rest, photograph, journal, or explore independently.
How physically demanding are the tours?
Most tours are designed for reasonably active travellers who are comfortable walking, carrying their own luggage, and participating in full days of exploration.
Some itineraries may include uneven terrain, stairs, heat, cold weather, or longer travel days. Physical requirements will always be clearly stated on each tour page.
What is the pace of the journey?
The rhythm of each journey moves between energy and stillness. Vibrant cultural moments are balanced with quieter time to pause, reflect, wander, and experience each destination more deeply.
While some days are more active than others, the overall pace is intentionally designed to avoid rushed, fast paced touring.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Most dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice, though flexibility is sometimes needed depending on the destination.
Please advise any requirements before booking.
Are the itineraries fixed?
The overall structure of the journey remains the same, but occasional adjustments may happen due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, festivals, or opportunities that enhance the experience.
Flexibility is part of meaningful travel.
Why are some hotel details not listed before booking?
Accommodation selections occasionally change due to seasonal availability or local conditions.
All properties are carefully chosen to match the atmosphere, comfort, and experience promised for the tour.
When will I receive final tour information?
Detailed pre departure information including accommodation details, packing guidance, arrival instructions, and important travel information will be sent closer to departure.
Can I book my own extra nights before or after the tour?
Yes. Many travellers choose to extend their stay before or after the tour.
Advice on suitable areas and accommodation options can be provided after booking.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all travellers.
Your policy should include medical cover, personal belongings, trip cancellation, and emergency evacuation where appropriate.
What happens if a tour does not reach minimum numbers?
If a tour does not reach the minimum group size required to operate, travellers will be notified as early as possible and offered either a full refund or the option to transfer to another departure.
